In America, the day after Thanksgiving is called ‘Black Friday’. This is when all the retailers have a one day sale – it’s also the busiest shopping day of the year and officially marks the beginning of the holiday season. In anticipation of this, Nintendo have released two Limited Edition DS Lites which are both available for today from Amazon.com. Unfortunately, unless you live in the US you won’t be able to get them. This is what they are:

Mario Red with a Mario M emblazoned on the front, which comes with Super Mario Bros

and

Ice Blue, bundled with Brain Age (ie Brain Training) and a matching DS Lite carry-case.

Visit Amazon.com for more info.

Good old Mario. He’e been with Nintendo right from the start and although I am not quite sure exactly how old he is – he’s a nimble little fella isn’t he? His popularity has spewed a host of games across the Nintendo consoles and the DS Lite is no different. Whether it’s the mushroom head-bouncing Super Mario Bros you prefer or the need for speed (and fun) in Mario Kart DS – there is a Mario game for you. Not forgetting Mario’s collaboration with Sonic which was top of the gaming charts for the whole of the summer. Below we’ve rounded up all the Mario DS Lite games we could find. What a success High School Musical has been? It’s like a modern day Grease (well kind of). That success has spread on to the consoles with all singing-all dancing games which your kids (or go on admit, yourself) will love to play on. This year sees the third installment on the DS of the popular series with High School Musical 3: Senior Year. (Wahoo! They’re growing up!) As always there are catchy songs and dance moves for the player to enjoy, as well as scenes from the film dispersed throughout. Click on the game below for more info, and for the hardcore fan there are a couple of High School Musical DS Lite Cases too!

Apart from being musical, the game is more of an interactive Yearbook. In between the singing and dancing, there are quizzes to test the players HSM3 knowledge and to see what character they are most like. Not an adult’s cup of tea, but if your 12 year old is into High School Musical – they will love this game.   Here are a few additional ideas…

The GameBoy Advance sold over 81 million units in it’s lifetime, but that wasn’t enough to defeat the almighty Nintendo DS, who has outsold that amount worldwide.

That’s ALOT of DS units out there isn’t it?
